RobSim

Automation of clinical procedures with the help of a humanoid to provide enhanced learning experience for learners.

What we are doing?

RobSim is a robotics-based system that allows nursing students/professionals to practice clinical simulation tasks in fully automated simulation labs. The system briefs, monitors, and assesses a student undertaking a nursing procedure with minimum intervention from an educator. The student is walked through a process step by step and aided if they have any problems. The method also creates a feedback report that assists the student in identifying and overcoming their shortcomings. As a result, students can go at their own pace and receive individualized experiences with these activities.

Why are we doing?

Due to various COVID Safe policies, many businesses were challenged during the pandemic. The health-care education industry, which focused significantly on face-to-face education, was one of the hardest hit. As a result, education delivery needed to be revolutionized. The goal of the project is to increase student learning on our campuses by offering more personalized instruction. It is critical for them to have great hands-on knowledge as future healthcare professionals. Most of the labs are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We can make our nursing simulation labs open to students 24 hours a day, seven days a week with the help of RobSim. As a result, students can improve their practical skills whenever they want.

How are we doing?

We are implementing this vision by combining robotics, programming, and nursing expertise. HCI is filled with people who possess the abilities mentioned earlier. Collaborating with experts in the disciplines above and having the right mentors is assisting this project in achieving its aim. The prototype is progressing according to plan, thanks to the state-of-the-art facilities we have at our Rosanna and North Melbourne locations.
